Soft play items from Kmart are a cheap way to create an engaging sensory play space for our little ones. Our two and four year old children both have sensory needs, requiring heavy work activities to calm their nervous systems. They love creating obstacle courses and playing “The Floor is Lava”. We have a wedge, cylinder, steps, rectangular prism, wave and half cylinder. We also bought two yoga mats and paid $149. Far cheaper than sensory stores! Great idea for Christmas presents.

Sensory play is thought to develop children's neural networks, improving their ability to problem solve, think creatively, and improve motor movement and core strength.
